#200 AND NOT OUT
On Saturday January 23rd last at Kirwan Park, De La Salle Palmerston FC front rower Keith Taite set a new record for the club, when he took to the pitch in their Dublin Derby Vs Suttonians in the Leinster League for his 200th league game for the first team!
Keith joined the club in 2001 at u-19 level, having just left De La Salle College Churchtown, who's long standings tradition of providing a front rowers to the highest level, helped make his immediate transition to first team senior rugby seamless and also ensuring a spell of featuring in the Leinster Development Squad.
Over his 14 year year career to date his leadership and effort on the pitch has seen him gain the respect of his many peers, especially during a difficult period when he regained full fitness from a serious back injury that at one stage threatened his playing career. True to the man he also regained his place on the first team. he has has also uniquely captained the club on three different seasons! Something that only one other club member Neville Quinn has also done in the clubs proud history.
Keith is also the youngest ever recipient of the club's most prestigious award the De La Salle Palmerston FC Hall of Fame Award, which is presented each year at the club dinner.
Also on two occasions he has won the first team Players Player award, at the annual players diner award night. It's no surprise really then that a man that has given so much to the club would then set a record by playing over 200 League games for his club (188 of which were in the AIL) and as he says himself #200 and not out.
With this in mind you can be sure his fellow players, members, friends and past players at De La Salle Palmerston FC would all like to join in congratulating him on this fantastic achievement and look forward to seeing him adding to his tally as we target our return to the Ulster Bank League.
