It Could be You
Having raised in excess €60,000 by co ordinating the hugely succeful annual car raflle over the last number of years, former club president Turlough O Brien is delighted to announce his latest project the local lotto.
This will be the new main revenue earner for the club and at a lowly price of €2 to participarte, he’s confident that we will get a huge response from the club members.
Turlough has been working on this project over the last few months and he is delighted to advise that everything is in place to go live on Saturday 25th June.
To help with the official launch he needs to recruit a team of four. It’s a one off involvement and there is a meeting arranged for next Tuesday night in Churchtown, if you feel you would be interested give Turlough a call directly on 086 8126002 or reply with your contact details to: info@dlspfc.ie
Mick Downey organises Salmo Sevens for u16-19’s

DLSP hosted a very successful 7s tournament in Kirwan Park on May 15th last, which was attended by almost 50 players from the u16 - u19 age groups. An invite was sent to current and ex-players from these age groups and was particularly aimed at players who had been with Salmo in the past and who have for whatever reasons drifted away from the Club. It was great to see many of those returning on the day.
The tournament was held on a round robin basis with all the teams playing 3 matches each. The teams were split between the age groups and the matches were competitive, evenly contested and played in a great spirit. The quality of rugby was fantastic with typical 7s fare of fast attacking and open rugby. Pictured with the winner’s trophy is Andy Coleman captain of the winning side and other participants on the day.
DLSP hope to field teams at all age groups next season - particularly at U16, 17 and 19 - and we expect many of the boys who took part to be back wearing Salmo colours on a regular basis.
Many thanks to the coaches who took responsibility for the teams during the tournament and to Stephen Hingerty for reffing and Gerry Doyle for putting on a BBQ and refreshments for the players.

Wild Geese
Well done to former Salmo favourite Damian "Ted"Mc Cabe (and brother of 1st team players Ronan and Colm), who this year lined out with Enniscorthy RFC in a player coach role. "Ted" helped them to gain promotion in their league and also winning their plate competition. Over the years there have been a number of players who played for both clubs including the Wheelock brothers, Tommy James, Kent Ashmore, Simon Walsh and Declan 0’Brien.
The Garda RFC also won the Spenser Cup and salmo had a link in here with Conor Cadogan and Damian Maher, playing on the wining team, well done to all.
Wednesday nights a huge success
Large numbers have responded very positively to Gerry Doyle’s decision to open up the club every Wednesday during May, June & July.
A selection of Junior, Vets, youths and 1st team players have been playing tip which starts at 7.15pm (and is open to all). Gerry also has the Bar B Que on and fresh tasty food is available after tip.
But remember the bar is open from 7.15pm, so if you want to have a meeting with someone or want to catch up or watch live sport, feel free to come along and have a cuppa or a pint .
Remember EVERY Wednesday the clubhouse is OPEN.
Birthday Greetings

Congratulations to current J4 player (& U-9’s coach) Eoin O Leary (Aka Piggy), who celebrated turning the big 40 last night and his team mates were delighted to embarrass him by dimming the lights in the clubhouse, singing Happy Birthday to him and presenting him with a cake.
