Mixed Ability Training Session a Great Success

At De La Salle Palmerston FC we firmly believe that rugby is a game for everyone so we were delighted and very proud on Sunday to welcome 80 players and coaches from DLSP, Malone RFC and Sundays Well RFC to Kirwan Park to take part in Ireland's first joint mixed-ability rugby training session.

We were very lucky with the weather as the forecast rain held off and instead the sun shone. The session was facilitated by Maeve D'Arcy who was ably assisted by Dee O'Brien and consisted of various skills drills and a blitz which saw some very competitive encounters and some excellent tries.

The afternoon was rounded out with a meal in the clubhouse before everyone settled down to enjoy the Ireland v France game.

The day was a great success and a credit to all those who worked so hard to make it happen. There was a real sense of fun and enjoyment about the whole event and it was great to see so many smiling faces out there on the pitches and new friendships being formed.

We are very grateful to both Malone and Sundays Well for making the journey to Kirwan Park to join us and we look forward to renewing our friendships soon. A huge thank you to Maeve, Dee, Leinster CROs Stephen Gore and Jonathan Sharkey, not to forget our own Dave Hicks and all the volunteers who helped out on the day.
