Established in March 1975, this will be the 43rd season of youth’s rugby in the club, making it the oldest of a Senior Club in Leinster.

During this time, some of those who played on a Sunday morning in Kilternan have went onto play at the highest levels including Ireland and The Lions (retired Leinster players Luke Fitzgerald & Malcolm O'Kelly, being two), with current Senior inter provincials Connacht Scrum Half John Cooney and Leinster Academy player Steve Crosbie, also having started their rugby careers on a Sunday morning in Kirwan Park.

Others to graduate to full Senior Inter pro status include: Eoghan Hickey (Leinster, Munster & London Irish), Damian McCabe (Connacht) and Irish Youths internationals Josh O'Rourke, Karl Moran and Kevin Dolan.

At Youth level the players are introduced to competitive rugby and each squad actively participates in the various IRFU organised leagues along with invitational events.

Each squad is supported with fully trained and Garda vetted Coaches.

There is a greater emphasis on individual contribution to the team’s results along with a greater awareness of the IRFU’s ‘Respect’ programme.

If you are thinking of bringing your child along to try rugby in our club you are very welcome. All you need is a Gum Shield!

In our experience we would recommend that you bring them along to training for at least a month and see how they get on. Hopefully they like it and want to join, then you can talk to your team's administrator regarding memberships, etc.

Also we have a "BOOT BOX SCHEME", this is where boots that are grown out of are left into the club by families to be passed onto other children, always in excellent condition and sometimes nearly brand new.

SO DON'T BUY BOOTS WITH OUT CHECKING - every week boots are left in and taken, so check a few times. Also if you have boots that your children haven grown out of, please consider donating them for re-use

For information on any squad or their training times please email miniyouth@dlspfc.ie and we will be delighted to give you details.

Under 18.5s finish top of League Table!

(09 Feb 2018)

The lads finished off the league campaign proper with a cracking 36-14 win over a decent Barnhall side a couple of weeks back, and as a result finished top of the league and guaranteed a home semi-final (as an important aside, the match was played in the De La Salle Churchtown school grounds - further underpinning the excellent co-operative relationship that we have between Salmo and DLSC...thanks again!).

Salmo Under 14s Prove the Club Rugby and School Sports CAN Co-Exist!!

(09 Feb 2018)

The transition from Primary to Secondary school is perhaps the most significant challenge for Club Youth rugby as longer schooldays, increased workload, and more after school sports all compete for attention and challenge participation in club rugby activities.
